Get up close to some of Kaua‘i’s most beautiful and vibrant sea life. Under the waves lives a world of magnificent creatures that is unmatched anywhere else. Snorkeling in the crystal-clear water allows you to get face-to-face with wildlife in its natural element, getting acquainted with the abundant and playful sea turtles or splash around with schools of colorful fish.

I especially love to explore a couple beaches along the island’s North Shore. Ke‘e Beach has a tropical reef that surrounds the majority of the beach, creating an amazing aquarium of fish. You’ll also find the start of the Hanakāpī‘ai Hiking Trail, the breathtaking path that rewards you with striking views of the Nāpali Coast.

Tunnels Beach is another haven for exceptional snorkeling. A short walk down to a beautiful sandy beach reveals excellent cover for both snorkeling and scuba diving. The tunnels in the reef (from which the beach gets its name) help to create a magical world for a wide variety of brilliant fish
