Luau

Enhance your trip with this quintessential island dinner show.

There’s nothing more synonymous with Hawaiian culture than the traditional lū‘au. It is a perfect way to immerse yourself in authentic Polynesian culture. As one of the most popular activities on the island, there are several lū‘aus to choose from. I recommend the Wailele Lū‘au at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, where you’ll be welcomed with a lei before sipping on a classic mai tai.

Throughout this entertaining dinner show, you’ll learn our history through music, dance and storytelling. Plus, you’ll be able to sample delicious Hawaiian food prepared in traditional methods.

Space fills fast, so you’ll want to book as soon as possible. Give us a call so we can share more details and get your reservations made.

Snorkeling

Fantastic sites abound with colorful coral, sea turtles, and countless varieties of fish.

If you want to get up close and personal with all the marine life just below the surface, there are many amazing areas to experience off the coast of Maui. However, one of the best spots is just steps from your villa on North Kā‘anapali Beach.

Masks and fins can be rented for a minimal fee near the main pool at The Westin Kā’anapali Ocean Resort Villas. Floats, sunscreen, and other sundries are also available for purchase, so just stop by to stock up before heading out.

When you’re ready to venture a little further, here are a few more of my favorite snorkeling areas:

BLACK ROCK

Located on South Kā‘anapali Beach, the iconic Black Rock is a must-see. Even though it’s a popular destination, the long span of the beach typically allows for plenty of room to explore the variety of fish along the rock wall.

Distance from the resort: 5 minutes

KAPALUA BAY

Spread out your towels on the sugar-sand beach and make a day of exploring the two reefs that protect the bay.

Distance from the resort: 15 minutes

MOLOKINI CRATER

This ancient volcanic crater is located just a few miles off the coast and is almost half a mile wide. The sheltering arms of the crater create an ideal aquatic habitat with excellent water clarity.

Distance from the resort: Most trips to Molokini depart from Maalaea Harbor. Plan on a 45-minute drive to the harbor from the resort.

HONOLUA BAY

High rocky cliffs. Breathtaking views. It’s all here on Maui’s northwest coast. Since no fishing is allowed, there is a density and diversity of sea life that is second to none. If you are hiking here, wear shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

Distance from the resort: 15 minutes

NAPILI BAY

This is a go-to spot for laid-back exploring. Keep your eyes open for sea turtles and a multitude of colorful tropical fish. Afterward, head up to Sea House for the Whale Watcher’s Happy Hour, which starts at 2 p.m.

Distance from the resort: 15 minutes

Sunset Sail

Hop aboard a catamaran for the ultimate in evening relaxation.

One of the most popular ways to explore Maui’s surroundings is by boat. The most beautiful time is at sunset.

I love to recommend this because it’s perfect for everyone, from families to couples. Try a sail aboard a luxury catamaran that departs late afternoon. As the sun begins to sink in the ocean, you’ll be able to take in phenomenal views of the West Maui Mountains, Moloka‘i, and Lāna‘i. Typically, most sails include complimentary drinks and light bites. Most catamarans are beach loading, so be prepared to get wet up to your knees.

It's good to keep in mind that during winter months it can get a little chilly on the water in the evening. It's best to bring along a light jacket just in case.

Let us reserve your sail so you don’t miss this sunset experience.

Helicopter Tour

Soar above “The Valley Isle” and travel through the island’s most remote areas.

Most Popular

There’s really only one way to experience the island’s most grand and awesome natural wonders — by air.

Board a helicopter and glide over towering sea cliffs, hover next to cascading waterfalls, and travel through the island's most remote areas with views of Haleakalā Crater, Hāna Town, the Seven Sacred Pools, Ho'okipa Beach Park, nearby Moloka‘i, and humpback whales. A good tip I like to share is to wear dark clothing for your best photo opportunities. Dark clothing minimizes the reflection of the helicopter’s glass.

These tours are among our most popular activities, so it’s important to call early and book your spot.
