Make the Most of Harborside: Tips From the GM

Chevaz Chambers knows Harborside Resort at Atlantis inside and out—and not just because he leads it today as vice president and general manager.
A native of New Providence, Bahamas, his roots in hospitality run deep. He grew up in a family of hoteliers, worked in food and beverage while in college, and later stepped into multiple leadership roles across hotel operations.
“My grandmother was a hotelier, and my late mother worked in the industry as well,” he says. “Choosing this path felt very natural to me.”
On a typical day, Chambers works a fast-paced shift that starts before sunrise to check the news, connect with overnight managers, and align with his team. In quieter moments, he finds calm in fishing or watching ships pass through the harbor.
“Fishing taught me patience,” he says. “It’s one of those moments where everything slows down and gives me space to reset.”
That same sense of balance shapes the way he supports Owners, offering thoughtful tips on how to pace their stay while making the most of Atlantis amenities, from water park thrills to sparkling pools and lively entertainment.
Inspired by watching his family build meaningful relationships, Chambers believes great experiences begin with mutual respect. It’s why he encourages visitors to connect more deeply with the island through every interaction, every view, and every bite.
“It’s in those moments that you really feel the warmth and authenticity of Bahamian hospitality,” he says.

SOMEONE VISITING HARBORSIDE RESORT AT ATLANTIS FOR THE FIRST TIME, WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO BEGIN THE TRIP?
First, I would recommend arriving early and easing into the resort. Spend that first day getting oriented, enjoying the pools and water features, and exploring the marine habitats nearby. Harborside Resort at Atlantis, and by extension Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas, is very expansive, and part of the experience is having a fun level of discovery.
WHAT ABOUT THE FOLLOWING DAYS? WHAT WOULD YOUR IDEAL ITINERARY LOOK LIKE?
I’d suggest balancing adventure with relaxation. Start slow, then on your second day, spend some time at the beach and close out the day with a waterfront dinner at Sunset Point. The key, which I believe is most critical, is not to overschedule. There’s so much to see and do, but pacing yourself helps you enjoy the best moments without feeling rushed.
WHAT SHOULD OWNERS KNOW BEFORE THEY ARRIVE?
Pack light. Bring comfortable footwear and light layers. I also encourage Owners to utilize our Guest Services. Our Concierge1 and resort team are there as a resource. So, once you arrive at the property, connect with the team and let us handle the details. That’s what we’re there for.
1 The Concierge can help with dinner reservations, booking tours, and sharing local recommendations.
HARBORSIDE RESORT AT ATLANTIS IS CONNECTED TO A MUCH LARGER DESTINATION. WHAT ARE THE BEST TIPS FOR NAVIGATING IT ALL?
One of the things that I would encourage all of our Owners to do is .2 Take full advantage of the app because there you can see all the activities, book your dining experiences, and use wayfinding to help you navigate the property. You’ll have everything that’s happening at Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas in the palm of your hand.
It’s also helpful to know that the property is connected by sidewalks. Guests can use the complimentary shuttle service, but they can also walk between Harborside Resort at Atlantis and Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE HARBORSIDE RESORT AT ATLANTIS EXPERIENCE FOR OWNERS WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THE RESORT?
Harborside Resort at Atlantis provides more of a residential, marina-front feel experience while still giving guests access to the energy and amenities of Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas. You can balance the privacy and space of Harborside Resort at Atlantis, paired with the convenience of being so close to the Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas property, and that’s what makes it—in my opinion—very special.
It’s also a property that really appeals to multigenerational travel. We have many Owners who enjoy relaxing day by the pool, and the next day, they might take their grandkids to Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas to enjoy the waterslides. It really creates that perfect blend for all people within your family.

ARE THERE DINING SPOTS YOU RECOMMEND?
I’m always going to support Sunset Point. I think it’s such an amazing vibe and location. You don’t need to make a reservation, and it serves breakfast, lunch, or dinner right at Harborside Resort at Atlantis.
There’s also a great blend of restaurants at Marina Village, an open-air dining marketplace at Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas, that offers everything from steakhouse dining to local Bahamian foods. At The Cove, there’s Paranza, which is led by a Michelin-starred chef. The options are endless, but for me, it’s always starting with Sunset Point.
IS THERE A LOCAL SIGNATURE DISH OR DRINK THAT STANDS OUT TO YOU?
I love the lobster, and as for the drink, always ask for a Bahama Mama. You’ll find different varieties of it online, but the one served here comes with coconut rum, pineapple juice, grenadine, club soda, ginger ale, and a little bit of lime.
WHAT ARE SOME CULTURAL EXPERIENCES GUESTS CAN PARTAKE IN?
First, enjoy the incredible range of all of our dining options. We have everything from casual bites to elevated culinary experiences. Beyond the main attractions, you’ll find quieter beaches, scenic viewpoints, and moments where you can really immerse yourself in Bahamian culture. From , you can visit Marina Village on a Tuesday or Friday night and jump into the Junkanoo Rush Out (a vibrant, high-energy celebration of Bahamian culture).
I will also always encourage leaving space in your itinerary to explore and connect with the island. Take time to explore Nassau’s downtown area and visit the Nassau Straw Market (a bazaar where over 500 local vendors sell crafts and souvenirs). Engage with the locals—they’re always happy to share a smile and ask where you’re from. The warmth of those conversations will be a big part of what makes a trip memorable.
